Figure skating show Feb. 18

Mission figure skaters brought home a number of medals from a recent competition in Chilliwack

Several members of the Mission Figure Skating Club earned medals at the Winterskate competition.

A number of Mission figure skaters placed well in the recently held Chilliwack’s Winterskate, a regional competition that saw athletes from across the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast attend.

In the Special Olympics category, Katie Marchbank earned gold in ladies level one dance, and ladies level three freeskate.

Haley McMillan became a B.C. Coast Region Champion with her gold medal-winning performance in Gold women and Silver interpretive.

Jessica McHugh placed fifth in Junior Bronze 12 and under, while in pre-preliminary Haleigha Bull and Bianca Guevara took gold; Alicia Bonnin-Mendies came seventh; Cora-Lee Hagel, eighth; Hye-Seon Jung, 10th; Carly Phenix, 11th; and Marissa Bandick, 13th.

Denielle Del Vicario placed third in Silver interpretive, and Amanda Saniger was third in introductory interpretive.


Gala show

Mission Figure Skating Club’s annual show is coming up this Saturday.

The gala ice show, Reflection of Colours, happens Feb. 18, starting at 7 p.m. at the Leisure Centre. There will be gift basket draws, a 50/50, and more.
