Jay Mageau brought his 1978 Corvette Stingray to Mission Raceway Park last weekend for the Nitro Fest.

It was an epic weekend at Mission Raceway Park, with 31 funny cars making the trek to the track in a competition that saw Tim Boychuk take his third straight victory here.

Joe Delehay made the long-awaited first five-second doorcar pass in Western Canada and has the ET and mile per hour record. He went 5.99 in round one at 242 mph, and then backed it up with a 6.00 in round two. Delehay defeated Yvonne Lucas in the final round. She went 6.35 second at 222 mph.

Boychuk continued his dominance at MRP, but it was close in the final. Darrin Bay was just a few hundredths back of Boychuk in the final round, but he did go 250 mph in the semis (5.72 ET).

Norm Kolwich almost had a dream debut weekend for the Rocky Mountain Nostalgia Funny Cars group. He lost in the final against Eddy Plaizier when he broke out by .02, going 6.88 seconds on the 6.90 index.

Ron Huegli absolutely dominated the NWBB/FC group with two 6.85s on their 6.85 number. In the final he went 6.88 to defeat Randy Parker.
