JVs playing Interior conference champs Thursday

A Roadrunner win would put the Mission secondary football team into the semi-finals

Mission's AA junior varsity football team took down the previously undefeated Carson Graham squad last Wednesday 27-0, propelling the team to today's game in which a victory would send the Roadrunners into the semi-finals.

Carson Graham was the number one seed team in the division and the western conference champions, but they were no match for Mission.

After two early season losses, the Roadrunners have hit their stride at the right time, winning their last four games by an average margin of 38 points, said coach John Kapty.

""Playoff wins always feel great, but this was a really good one. We played our best game of the season and got a huge win against a really good team."

Bryce Fillion carried the ball 27 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns, while Jesse Walker returned a punt 63 yards for six points.

"Bryce and Jesse carried our offense today. Our O-line did a great job, and those two guys just kept making big plays," said Kapty. "We drove the ball very well. We weren't getting the big plays, we just moved down the field consistently and scored touchdowns when we got the chance."

On defense LBs Peter Kulba and Dayton Robertson led the way with seven tackles each, while Kulba added two late interceptions to crush any comeback chances. Dylan Uhrich and Rayl Paling each recorded a sack. Mission had five interceptions in total, with Walker, Bicky Gill and Inderpreet Herr each adding one.

The Nov. 15 game is against South Kamloops and starts at 2:15 p.m.
