Intermediate kata competitors finished the first round in high spirits at the Pitt Meadows Family Recreational Centre on Saturday.

There was a definite mix of emotions as four individuals from each of the four competing zones are chosen to move on to the next level.

Victoria Boada, a competitor from the Abbotsford Karate Club, said she’s excited to move on to the next level of her Games experience. She is not nervous in the slightest, and looks forward to the challenges ahead.

“I also like the parties,” she said. “The parties are fun. We have one tonight.”

Her younger brother Manuel, who said he is also a member of Abbotsford Karate Club, is not competing, but says he is proud of his sister.
