Midget A fastpitch softball returns to Mission April 19 with a league game between the home team Fraser Valley Fusion and the visiting Ridge Meadows Pride.
The game will have no shortage of Mission talent as both teams have recruited players that got their start with Mission Minor Softball Association teams.
Playing for the Fusion are Alexx Carl, Megan Shurey and Paige Rutledge, for the visitors Meaghan Kinnee and Hilary Novakowski. On the coaching side are Fusion’s Craig Shurey and Brad Rutledge and Ridge Meadows assistant coach Colin Kinnee.
Shurey and Kinnee agree playing in Mission promotes fastpitch and opens the doors for the community to come and see the sport played at the highest minor level.
After playing A level softball, many girls from these teams will be moving on to play for college teams in Canada and the United States.
Future Fusion games in Mission will be held May 19 and June 16.
Game times are 8:30 p.m. at the Mission Leisure Centre field.
