The Mission Secondary Roadrunners senior girls basketball team is flying high in 2017.

The girls sit atop the AAA’s Fraser Valley Tier 2 East division with a perfect record of three wins and no losses. They’ve outscored the opposition 158-115 in those three games.

Mission defeated Chilliwack on the road 48-34 on Jan. 11, and then beat Clayton Heights 49-44 on Monday to continue the streak. The girls hosted Chilliwack on Wednesday evening, but results were not available by press time.

The Roadrunners next hit the road again to tangle with Clayton Heights on Jan. 30.

The Mission senior boys team has been more active, but not quite as successful as the girls.

The boys, competing in the AAAA’s Fraser Valley East division, are winless after three games. In the new year, they lost a pair of games to Abbotsford’s Yale Lions, falling 98-49 on home court on Jan. 10 and 85-47 at Yale on Jan. 16.

The Roadrunners also competed at Vancouver’s Notre Dame Regional Secondary School’s Juggler Classic tournament earlier this month.

Mission opened with a 69-47 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas on Jan. 5, but then bounced back with a 49-44 win over Burnaby Central on Jan. 6. The Roadrunners closed the tournament with a 60-46 loss to R.C. Palmer on Jan. 7.

The senior boys next host Sardis Secondary on Jan. 24.
