Mission athletes, coaches bound for BC Games

The city has athletes competing in 10 different sports at the event. There are also several coaches and officials from Mission.

Mission is set to be well represented at the 2016 BC Summer Games.

The city has athletes competing in 10 different sports at the event. There are also several coaches and officials from Mission offering their services to the Games.

The event’s participant list was released last week and the following athletes are scheduled to suit up:

Athletics: Harrison Trustham and David Williamson

Baseball: Yosuke Fujie

Basketball 3 on 3: Jayden Toor

Golf: Kyle Claggett, Devin Cutforth and Christopher Dale

Lacrosse (Box): Owen Gossen, Josh Grant, Imat Grewal, Joel Lachapelle, Dryden Recsky, Brett Selbie, Ethan Symons and Garret Winter

Lacrosse (Field): Matthew Abbot, Samuel Adams, Josh Bramley and Jude McAdie

Rugby: Kate Baker and Kyra Lipke

Soccer: Rhys Squires

Towed Water Sports: Kaden Scott

Volleyball: Matt Hanna and Makenzie Rourke

The athletes will all be a part of the Fraser Valley Zone 3 team during the Games.

Other locals involved in the Games include: Jason Swan (athletics official), DJ Saari (lacrosse box assistant coach), Riley Vukovic (lacrosse box assistant coach), Cam Slater (lacrosse box official), Brent Boutilier (lacrosse field official), Harpreet Grewal (lacrosse field head coach) and Brooke Kienas (swimming official).

The Games run from July 21 to 24 at locations in Abbotsford, Langley and Harrison Hot Springs.
