The Mission City Outlaws scored 11 goals in a shutout win over the Aldergrove Kodiaks last Saturday (Oct. 5) at the Leisure Centre.

The Mission City Outlaws built on their first win of the season by collecting more points with back-to-back wins over Aldergrove and an overtime loss to Abbotsford last week.

The Outlaws visited the Aldergrove Community Centre to play the Kodiaks on Oct. 2 and emerged with a 7-3 win.

Seven different players scored for Mission, with Tyler Ferguson, Ashton Holbech, Cade Peden, Rehaun Lidder, Rylan Elson, Samuel Gerbrand and Sam Takahashi finding the back of the net.

Gerbrand led the way with three points while the rest of the goal scorers each added an assist as well.  Mission netminder Carter Greenway earned the win with 27 stops while Aldergrove’s Kyle Spak faced 52 shots in the loss.

Aldergrove had a shot to bounce back against Mission at the Leisure Centre on Saturday (Oct. 5) but the Outlaws dominated with an 11-0 victory.

It was a team effort again for Mission with 10 different goalscorers contributing.

Cooper Crowe notched a pair of goals for the Outlaws – both coming in a six-goal first period that left little doubt about the outcome of the game.

“It was a great win. It builds a lot of confidence for our group knowing we can put 11 pucks in the net in one night. Our team has really started to come together and we are showing the improvements each and every day,” Crowe said.

Kael Kozicki, AJ Frigon, Hudson Peever, Liam Van Der Hoeven, Ben Leslie, Peter Butler, Takahashi, Ferguson, and Holbech all scored as well.

Crowe was one of six Outlaws to record three points in the contest, with Takahashi, Leslie, Kozicki, Peden and Lachlan Freer all stuffing the stat sheet as well.

Jake Poblete picked up the shutout win for Mission, turning aside 27 shots.

The Outlaws looked to extend their win streak to four in a home game against the Abbotsford Pilots on Tuesday (Oct. 8).

Mission found themselves trailing by two goals after the first period but Freer cut the lead in half early in the second. The Pilots extended their lead to 5-1  with roughly five minutes left in the third after three consecutive goals.

However, the Outlaws fought back with a Colton Collard goal late in the second and three more from Kozicki, Crowe and Max Wingrove late in the third to force overtime.

Freer was whistled for hooking two minutes into the extra period and Ashton McDonaugh capitalized for the Pilots on the power play with the game-winner.

Mission shifts its focus to a matchup with the Grandview Steelers at the Leisure Centre on Saturday (Oct. 12) at 6:45 p.m.
