Dozens took to the course at Mission’s Eighteen Pastures on Sunday for the 2019 B.C. Doubles Disc Golf Championships.
A total of 80 individuals making up 40 teams vied for over $5,000 in cash and prizes, with both professionals and amateurs duking it out.
Professional winners were: Casey Hanemeyere and Duncan Schulz (open), Dan Laitsch and Neville Collett (master), Jordan Berelot Moens and Julie Moens (women), Dave Darling and Chance Stud (advanced) and Ben Mott and Jordan Mott (intermediate). Golfer Braeden Simmons also earned a $320 prize after scoring a hole-in-one.
Event organizers also thanked course owner Wayne Lindberg and his staff for their efforts in ensuring the event ran smoothly.
It’s the fourth straight year that the Fraser Valley Disc Golf Club has hosted the annual event.
Back in March, the FVDGC also hosted stop six on the DuckGolf tour at Fraser River Heritage Park.
The next big event on the local disc golf calendar is the Sea to Sky Open, which occurs in Whistler on Aug. 24.
