Mission Marlins Anna Andreychik competes in the girl’s “O” category 100 IM at the regional swim meet held in Abbotsford over the weekend.

The Mission Marlins competed at last weekend’s Fraser Valley Regional Championships in Abbotsford and earned 37 provincial qualifiers in nearly 100 different events.

“We are looking forward to the BCSSA Provincial Championships being held in Victoria August 21 to 23,” said head coach Christina Diewold

Marlin standouts included:

q Lucas Gafka won gold in the 50m backstroke, and silvers in 100m IM and freestyle, 50m freestyle, and two relays.

Anna Andrychik claimed six of a possible six gold medals in 100m IM, 50m butterfly and backstroke, 100m freestyle, and two relays, as well as a regional record in the 50m backstroke.

Abram Wiebe brought home silvers in 50m backstroke, 100m freestyle, and two relays, with bronzes in 100m IM, and 50m freestyle.

Trenton Tebbutt won gold in 200m IM, and silvers in 100m breaststroke and freestyle, and a relay, and a bronze in 50m butterfly.

Nolan Paul, won gold in 100m butterfly, breaking the regional record, and added gold in the 100m backstroke, and silvers in the 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle, and a relay.

Sophie Bryant broke the regional record en route to gold in the 100m breaststroke. She added gold in the 50m freestyle and silver in the 50m butterfly.
