The Mission Rebels under-15 girls’ soccer team was rewarded for an undefeated season on Sunday (Feb. 5) with gold medals and a BC Coastal League Division 2 championship.
The Rebels finished with 11 wins, no losses and two ties, with a goal differential of +28 and a league-best 40 goals scored.
“It’s phenomenal for us,” head coach Dave Wileman said. “Last season, we finished in 14th place with five goals all season. The turnaround has been phenomenal and the effort from the girls was just outstanding.”

The squad finished the regular season with a 3-0 win over the PCE Aces on Sunday afternoon in Mission. The Rebels wrapped up the season on a two-game winning streak after a 2-0 win over the CMF Rebels on Jan. 29 and a 2-2 tie against the NSG Hustle on Jan. 22.
The rest of the league teams didn’t expect Mission to play as well as they did this season, Wileman says. After taking an early lead in the standings, the other league teams came into Mission wanting to knock them off.
“We played some tough teams,” he said. “Some of them were physical but we just played our game and kept our head cool and kept it classy.”
Wileman hopes the squad can complete the double by winning the League Cup as well. The Rebels’ next cup game is Sunday (Feb. 12) at 1:45 at Mission Sports Park against the SCYS Storm.
