The Mission Secondary Roadrunners senior girls rugby squad is battling for provincial glory in Abbotsford.

After a successful regular season, the Roadrunners entered the AAA provincial rugby tournament ranked fourth in the province.

They opened the tournament against fifth-ranked Cowichan yesterday (Thursday) at 5 p.m., but results were not available at press time.

If successful, Mission advances to the provincial semi-final to take on the winner of the Carson Graham versus South Kamloops opening-round game. The tournament wraps up on Saturday afternoon.

All games are free to attend and occur at Abbotsford’s Exhibition Park.

Some of the talent on the team includes 2016 BC Games gold medalists Kyra Lipke and Kate Baker.

Read next week’s edition of the Mission City Record for details on how the Roadrunners fare.
