Mission tennis club crowns champions

Anne Marie Rex wins women's singles, while Brandon Wood claims men's singles title.

Mission Tennis Club held its year-end tournament over the course of three weekends.

The women's singles final saw newcomer Anne Marie Rex defeat last year's champ Val Gervais in straight sets, winning 6-3, 7-6 (9-7).

The women's doubles had last year's champs Val Gervais and Jane Thorup defeating Anne Marie Rex and Sharalee Regehr 6-1, 6-0.

The men's doubles had the teams of Brandon Wood and Ian Mackenzie, and Mark Gervais and Darian Foster reach the final without losing a set. The final turned into a marathon, with Wood and Mackenzie winning (5-7, 7-6, 7-6).

Brandon Wood and Arthur Griz met in the men’s singles final, and Wood dominated (6-0, 6-2) to clinch his third straight title.

Last year's mixed doubles champs Mark and Val Gervais defended their crown, beating the mother/son team of Anne Marie and Eric Rex 6-1, 6-2.
