MSS’ girls ski team earned first place at the Fraser Valleys.

Mission Secondary School’s girls alpine team earned first place last Thursday in the Fraser Valley Ski and Snowboard championships, while the boys team took fourth.

Natasha Crick earned a gold for her individual first place finish, and combined this win with Katja Krueger’s sixth, Mariah Hunter’s seventh, Liz Janze’s eighth, Christy Hunter’s 14th and Samantha Horacsek’s 15th for the team victory.

The boys came in fourth with only three racers, Virgil Hirtz, 13th, Connor Brisson, 24th, and Alex Janze, 30th, said coach Peter Anderson.

The boys snowboard team, which won the banner last year, tied for second.

Howard Roblee was seventh, Elliot Goodier, 17th, Jason Leiva, 21st, Cody Sharp, 22nd, and Ian Crawford placed 29th; a great job, considering the Heritage Woods Secondary juggernaut that took the top six places, said Anderson.
