Mission’s Brian Dale named a PJHL player of the week

The Outlaws’ netminder stopped 83 shots on 85 attempts in a pair of wins last week

Mission City Outlaws’ goalie Brian Dale was named one of the PJHL’s Players of the Week on Wednesday (Feb. 8) after a pair of outstanding performances.

Dale helped Mission extend their winning streak to six games after getting the start between the pipes against the Richmond Sockeyes on Feb. 2 and the North Vancouver Wolf Pack on Feb. 5.

“It’s certainly nice to be recognized for a job well done, but as a team we’re just getting started,” Dale said. “We have a great group here and heading into 2023 we were determined to make a strong push into the playoffs. For me personally, coming off an injury, I just wanted to make an immediate impact and help my team win games.”

In the 4-1 win over Richmond at Minoru Arena, Dale was named first star after turning aside 40 of 41 shots to power the Outlaws to victory. He followed up that performance with 43 saves on 44 shots in a 4-1 win over North Vancouver.

As a homegrown talent from Mission, Dale has played with the Outlaws since the 2020-21 season after spending his rookie season with the Ridge Meadows Flames in 2019-20.

This season, the netminder has split time in goal with Max Fowle. Dale has gone 13-9 in 23 games played with a 3.06 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. Meanwhile, Fowle is 14-10 in 24 games played with a 3.36 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.

“We’re playing really good hockey right now, everyone is doing their job well and it’s a lot of fun to come to the rink. It’s an exciting time to be part of the Mission Outlaws and we’re looking forward to the playoffs,” Dale said.

The Outlaws have clinched the three seed in the Harold Brittain conference with a seven game first round series against the Ridge Meadows Flames in store.
