A new season of motorcycle road racing starts this weekend at Mission Raceway Park.

Westwood Motorcycle Racing Club (WMRC) action starts this weekend at Mission Raceway Park, with the first competition of the year on May 1.

The nine-turn, 1.3-mile road course pits professional, intermediate and novice racers against each other in the quest for points, all in the hopes of clinching the number one plate by season's end.

On any given race day up to 150 racers, friends, family and other bike enthusiasts fill the paddock and grandstands. The pits are open to the public, letting fans get up close and personal with the racers and their chosen machines.

Racing gets underway at 9 a.m., with the final superbike race of the day happening at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10, and admission is free to kids 10 and under.

Further races happen May 21-22, June 20, Aug. 1 and Sept. 24-25. For more information visit www.wmrc.ca or call 604-328-2453.
