Mud Dawgs teams win gold and silver in field lacrosse provincials

The U12 team captured a gold, while the U16s won the silver

The U12 Mission Mud Dawgs won the gold medal for the first time this past weekend at the BCLA Tier two Field Lacrosse Championships.

The local team faced off against the Surrey Warriors, coming away with the decisive 13-4 victory.

Head coach Harpreet Grewal lead the team to a perfect 14-0 regular season, and 5-0 in the playoffs.

Championship MVP was Imat Grewal, while Garret Winter, Ethan Symons, Matthew Abbott and Bryce Mackenzie won individual honours in the round robin games.

“It was an incredible season,” said assistant coach Rob Adachi. “The kids really brought their A game and coach Harpreet really knows how to motivate the kids.”

The U16 Mud Dawgs walked away from the Feb. 24 field lacrosse championship game with a silver medal, after a promising start with victories over Coquitlam, North Island and Vancouver.
