The Mission City Outlaws split a pair of inter-conference games against the Richmond Sockeyes and Grandview Steelers last weekend.

At Burnaby Winter Club on Sunday (Dec. 1), a pair of power play goals pushed Mission past Grandview 4-1.

After a penalty for too many on the ice in the first period, Outlaws forward Max Wingrove capitalized on the ensuing advantage to put Mission in front.  Cade Peden scored again for Mission just two minutes later to provide the Outlaws with a 2-0 advantage after 20 minutes of play.

In the second period, Steve Konechny cut the lead in half on the power play but Mission’s Samuel Gerbrand answered with a power play goal of his own shortly after to extend the lead.

The third period saw Mission's Lachlan Freer clinch the win with an empty-netter in the 19th minute.

Peden was named first star of the contest after tallying a goal and assist, while Jake Poblete earned second star and the win with 27 saves.

The road win allowed the Outlaws to bounce back from a 9-1 loss to the Richmond Sockeyes on Saturday night (Nov. 30) at Mission Leisure Centre.

Four players scored twice for Richmond in the convincing win while Gerbrand scored the lone goal for Mission.

The split keeps the Outlaws in fifth place in the Harold Brittain Conference with a 7-17-2 record and 16 points.

They sit four points ahead of the Surrey Knights and 11 points behind the fourth-place Langley Trappers.

Up next, the Outlaws play host to the Coastal Tsunami at the Leisure Centre on Saturday (Dec. 7) at 6:45 p.m. and stay home to play the North Vancouver Wolf Pack at 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 10).
