The Mission City Outlaws enter the final stretch of the PJHL season on a hot streak after the squad extended its win streak to six games.

After wins over Aldergrove, Surrey and Ridge Meadows in late January, the Outlaws picked up a trio of wins this past weekend to tie their longest winning streak of the season. They knocked off the Richmond Sockeyes 4-1 on Thursday (Feb. 2), the Ridge Meadows Flames 5-3 on Saturday (Feb. 4) and the North Vancouver Wolf Pack 4-1 on Sunday (Feb. 5).

On Thursday night at Minoru Arena in Richmond, the Outlaws defeated the top team in the Tom Shaw conference 4-1. Mission forward Kyle Sackmann tallied a game-high two points with a pair of assists, while Brian Dale earned the game’s first star after stopping 40 of 41 shots in between the pipes for the Outlaws.

Richmond outshot Mission 12-10 in a scoreless first period, before the Outlaws exploded for three goals in the second. Carson Garneau opened the scoring before Kade Padgham and Chase Newman extended the lead to 3-0 heading into the third period. Gavin Bains scored for Richmond to prevent a shutout, but Dale accomplished something rarer by scoring on an empty-netter.

Another three-goal second period propelled the Outlaws to a 5-3 victory at home against the Ridge Meadows Flames on Saturday night. Mission’s Cayden Karcioglu and Padgham each had a game-high three points from a goal and two assists. Blake Clease found the back of the net twice for the Outlaws while Newman helped out with two assists. Max Fowle got the start in net and made 35 saves while allowing three goals.

Padgham started the scoring with five minutes remaining in the first period by potting a power-play goal. However, Derek Leroux and Cohen Muc each scored late to give the Flames a 2-1 lead heading into the second period. Clease tied the game almost five minutes into the frame before Owen Elson gave the Outlaws the lead and Clease scored again to make it 4-2. Zach Lagrange cut the lead in half, but Karcioglu scored just 19 seconds into the third to extend the lead back to two goals and secure a 5-3 victory.

On Sunday afternoon at Harry Jerome Arena, the Outlaws scored four unanswered goals to defeat the Wolf Pack 4-1. Rowan Zapisocki’s two goals led Mission in the matinee, while Padgham and Brendan Chabot each notched two points as well. Dale was spectacular in goal again, stopping 43 of 44 shots to help the Outlaws extend their streak.

Daniel Dalla Pace opened the scoring for North Vancouver on the power play, before Zapisocki beat the buzzer to tie the game 1-1 with one second remaining in the period. Karcioglu scored in the second before Zapisocki and Chabot scored in the third to clinch the game.

The Outlaws improve their record to 27-19 and hold on to the third seed in the Harold Brittain conference with 54 points. Mission has two games remaining in the regular season, with a visit to the Abbotsford Pilots on Friday (Feb. 10) at 7:30 p.m. before returning home to the Mission Leisure Centre Saturday (Feb. 11) for their season finale against the first place Langley Trappers at 6:45 p.m.
