The unofficial results of the first half of today's ladies giant slalom are looking very similar to yesterday's slalom finals. Whistler's Ella Renzoni is sitting in first place (44:63), and Kaysa Panke from Red Mountain is in second place (45:70).

Renzoni earned plenty of celebratory hugs both from teammates and competitors on Friday, when she earned gold for the ladies slalom.

The story was the same for Kaysa Panke, who placed silver in the slalom at the Hemlock Resort-based event.

Meg Swaffield is sitting in third following this first run with a time of 45:91. She placed sixth in Friday's slalom, while Rylee Forsyth won the bronze medal.

The ladies are on the hill, preparing for their second run for their final scores on the giant slalom. In a field of 53 skiers, only three did not finish their first run today, with another one disqualifying.

The men will begin their event later this afternoon.
