For the first time this regular season, the Mission Roadrunners senior girls basketball squad tasted defeat, but the sting didn’t last for long.

The Roadrunners travelled to Surrey to take on Clayton Heights on Jan. 30, falling 50-37 to the Nightriders.

However, Mission bounced back on Feb. 1 to defeat the R.E. Mountain Eagles 42-27 on home court.

The team’s record now sits at five wins and one loss, and they are tied for first place in the Fraser Valley Tier 2 East division.

The girls have outscored the opposition 50-39 in their six games this season.

The Roadrunners’ next games are still to be announced.

On the senior boys side, Mission remains winless in regular-season play, but have a chance to redeem themselves with the opening of the Fraser Valley East playoffs.

The Roadrunners took on Abbotsford’s W.J. Mouat Hawks at Yale Secondary on Thursday evening, but results were not available at press time.

If Mission wins on Thursday, they play Walnut Grove on Friday.

If they lose, they take on the losing team of the Sardis vs. Lord Tweedsmuir game on Saturday.
