The Sensational Seal sisters have done it again.

Mission natives Alexia and Victoria Seal both won gold medals in their respective weight classes at the 2019 Junior Canadian Championships in Saskatoon over the weekend.

Alexia took home top spot in the 50 kilograms division, while Victoria earned gold in the 53 kg division.

The sisters, who both train at the Burnaby Mountain Wrestling Cub, will now compete together on the national team later this year after the success in Saskatoon.

Alexia beat Edmonton’s Robbie Ann Pingal by pin fall in the quarter-finals, then took down Ontario’s Samantha Romano in 6-2 decision in the semifinals. She then defeated Ontario’s Samantha Adams 10-1 in the final. Alexia also was named the most outstanding women’s wrestler at the event. The SFU student also recently placed seventh in the 109 pound division at the Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Championships while competing for the Clan wrestling team.

Victoria rolled through the tournament with a quarter-finals pin of Ontario’s Riley Tubaro, a semifinals pin fall win over Sara Tokarz from Saskatchewan and closing off the event with a pin fall victory over Ontario’s Bailey Agard.

The Grade 12 Mission Secondary School student dominated the B.C. high school wrestling championships back in February, winning her fourth straight gold medal and being named top female at the event.
