Several of the 57 skiers competing in the men's slalom at Hemlock Friday failed to complete their first run, knocking the competition down considerably for the second and final run.

But those who finished did so with impressive scores.

Devin Mittertreiner from Fernie sped down the hill with a time of 1:09:85, placing him in top position on the podium.

Nathan Romanin from Whistler was nipping at his heels with a time of 1:10:56. Marcus Athans from Apex Ski Club followed them into third place with 1:12:57.

A medals ceremony for the Friday alpine events will be held on the hill at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
