Speed skating provincials held in Mission March 2-3

The fastest skaters in the province will be competing at Mission Leisure Centre

The fastest speed skaters in B.C. will be in Mission March 2-3 for the provincial championships.

“We were pleased to be asked to host this prestigious competition. This event will be a test event leading up to the 2014 BC Winter Games here in Mission,” said Bruce Wenting, president of the Mission Racers Speed Skating Club.

There will be no admission charge to view this event with athletes going up to 40 km/h around the 111-metre oval on the north arena of the Mission Leisure Centre.

Mission is the host city for the 2014 B.C. Winter Games, and skaters will be vying for spots on the training team for the 2015 Canada Winter Games, which will be held in Prince George.
