Victoria Gill
Callie Swan of Cariboo took gold in the female U16 speed skating 1500m final on Friday afternoon at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre.
She came in with the fastest time of 2:58.14 and right behind her was Connie Kapak from Thompson Okanagan who finished with a time of 2:58.94.
Taking home the bronze medal was Dominique Hawkenson from the Fraser Valley with a time of 3:09.60. Upon winning the gold medal Callie stated she was really excited and was glad that all her hard work had finally paid off.
In the near future she says she is looking forward to participate in the Canada Winter Games that are taking place in her hometown of Prince George.
