Speed skating wrapped up Saturday in the second day of competition at the Abbotsford Recreation Center with the medal ceremony in the evening. In all, 32 athletes from across the province earned medals in various categories from individual races to team relays.

William Park of Langley hulled in a total of 5 gold medals for the Fraser Valley U14 boys, making him a recognizable face among spectators by the time the night was through.

Callie Swan of Prince George owned the top spot on the podium for all U16 athletes, collecting 4 gold medals over two days.

“I like the BC Winter Games a lot.” said Swan on her two day experience in Abbotsford. “This is my second Winter Games and I think you can learn a lot by competing against these other athletes. The games have been a lot of fun and I am really proud of how I did.”

Callie's grandmother added that she is already planning her trip to the 2018 Olympics in South Korea to cheer on her granddaughter.
