Three Mission lacrosse players selected at 2023 BCJALL entry draft

Cayden Barker goes to New Westminster while brothers Gunner and Kade Leifsson are headed to Langley

Three Mission Minor Lacrosse players were drafted at the British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League (BCJALL) entry draft on Jan. 21.

Cayden Barker was selected in the second round by the New Westminster Salmonbellies with the 15th overall pick. The Salmonbellies made six picks in the first two rounds of the draft after finishing 4-10 in sixth place last year.

Meanwhile, brothers Gunner and Kade Leifsson were selected in the fifth round by the Langley Thunder with the 38th and 39th picks respectively. The Thunder finished third in the 2022 regular season at 10-4 before losing 4-2 in the championship series to the Victoria Shamrocks.

The entry draft is designed to disperse the first year junior-aged players located in either the Lower Mainland or Vancouver Island for their junior eligible playing years.
