The Mission Roadrunners tamed the Robert Bateman Timberwolves 46-0 Friday.

They will now host the Abbotsford Collegiate Panthers in a game for the Double A Eastern Conference championship on Friday at 2 p.m.

Mission running backs Jessie Forcier (11 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns) and Brenden Atkinson (five carries, 72 yards, two majors) keyed the ground attack.

Quarterback Kevin Wiens threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to tight end Rhys Parry, and Hadley Gwyn had a 65-yard punt return for a score.

The T-Wolves were driving as the game wound down, with Roadrunner backups on the field, but Mission’s Parker Johnson scooped up a fumble and took it to the house for an 82-yard touchdown.

The Roadrunners’ record now stands at 7-2, and 3-0 in league.

The Abby Panthers are also coming off a decisive win, having blown out Pit Meadows 40-0 on Thursday.

Impressive running the ball were Mike Nguyen (four carries, 55 yards, two touchdowns) and Dillon McGwire (three carries, 54 yards and a touchdown).

Quarterback Carter Williams also made an impact, twice connecting with Jesse Neufeld on touchdown passes, and scoring a TD off the rush.

A win Friday would give Mission, ranked second in the province, their first-ever conference title.

“It’s a big game for both programs,” said coach Kevin Watrin. “They’ll be tough. They’re solid in their schemes, and they have good size and athleticism across the board.”
