Vancouver Bandits head coach and general manager Kyle Julius visited Mission Secondary as part of the team’s school tour program.

Julius worked directly with student-athletes and volunteer coaches on Tuesday (Nov. 26), offering basketball insights emphasizing key life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and discipline

“With a reach that spans to numerous B.C. communities, this week the Vancouver Bandits School Tour program brings professional basketball to the heart of high schools in Mission, inspiring thousands of young athletes, volunteer coaches and strengthening community ties,” Bandits president Dylan Kular said.

“Mission is a particularly unique community to Vancouver Bandits basketball as team co-owners, Bryan Slusarchuk and Kevin Dhaliwal, were born and raised in Mission, with Bryan still residing in the community and both co-owners still actively investing in the community of Mission. As the Bandits continue to build momentum for the upcoming season, Coach Julius and the entire organization are eager to connect with fans, students, volunteer coaches and educators alike in Mission through this impactful initiative.”

RONA Fraser Valley Building Supplies in Mission sponsored this week’s tour, bringing Julius to Mission Secondary and later to Hatzic Middle and Heritage Park Middle.

The tour runs from November to February, making weekly stops in different cities.

The initiative kicked off last week in Abbotsford with stops at Rick Hansen Secondary, Abbotsford Traditional Secondary, MEI Secondary, Robert Bateman Secondary and W.J. Mouat Secondary.

Mission Secondary was also one of 68 stops last year as well.
