It’s the final countdown to the awards. The entertainment is booked, the decorations are in, the tickets are almost gone (90 per cent sold), and the staff at the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce are putting the final touches on the biggest night in business for 2017.

This year’s finalists for the Business Excellence Awards were chosen through a rigorous judging process and an online community vote. With more than 40 businesses nominated and over 150 nominations cast, many of this year’s nominees were up for a nomination in multiple categories.

The 2016 finalists are listed online at missionchamber.bc.ca

“This spectacular event will focus on the success of all the finalists and brings together many local businesses to provide an evening that is unique, entertaining and truly celebrates what business in Mission is all about. This event is a perfect opportunity to network with many of our local business owners,” said David Sawatzky, president of the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s awards ceremony takes place tonight (Feb. 24) at the Clarke Foundation Theatre with a grand red-carpet affair.

This formal evening is complete with a cocktail hour filled with entertainment, music, amazing food provided by Blackberry Kitchen and Hotties Foods, live cooking demonstrations, signature cocktails and wine provided by UFV alumni. Join the incredibly funny Cliff Prang –  emcee and comedian – for the evening, as the Mission business community takes to the theatre for an Oscars-style awards presentation honouring the best in business for 2016.

After the awards, the night will finish off with a special champagne celebration provided by the Mission Springs with incredible desserts from local bakers the English Tarts.

“We have hired an amazing, talented comedian/emcee, brought in some incredible local food, and entertainment, and really created a true Oscars red-carpet evening to celebrate our finalists, complete with signature cocktails and martinis,” said Kristin Parsons, executive director for the Mission Chamber.

“We are stepping it up a notch and we look forward to celebrating with all the finalists on Friday.”

Tickets are available by visiting the chamber website or calling 604-826-6914.
