Women Helping Women is presenting Mission’s first career fair for women. The event is scheduled to take place on April 22.

Women Helping Women is a committee comprised of Mission Mayor Pam Alexis, Coun. Carol Hamilton, Mission School Board chair Tracy Loffler, and Trustees Shelley Carter and Julia Renkema.

The group’s goal is to see more Mission women explore career opportunities that will allow them to reach their full potential which will ultimately strengthen the community.

The first event the committee organized was a forum – which was held last November – that featured speakers from the community who shared their various work experiences with the audience.

The group decided that the next logical step would be a career fair to help women understand what opportunities exist.

The fair will be held on April 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ecole Mission Secondary School Cafeteria. Admission is free and open to all women regardless of age.

Exhibitors will include a wide range of businesses and organizations including those from non-traditional sectors. A full listing of exhibitors will be published closer to the event.

For inquiries and information, email Pam Alexis at palexis@mission.ca or Tracy Loffler at tracy.loffler@mpsd.ca.
