Mission Record receives trio of award nominations

The Mission Record team has been nominated for a Special Publications Award, for the 2023 Mission Community Guide.

Mission Record editor Kevin Mills and publisher Karen Murtagh have both been named as finalists for provincial newspaper awards.

The top three finalists for the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association’s 2024 Ma Murray Awards were announced on Friday (March 22), and Mills captured a nomination in the Best Columnist Award while Murtagh is a finalist for the Ad Design Award for her What’s Happening Downtown advertisement.

The entire Mission Record team has also picked up a third nomination, for Special Publications Award, for the 2023 Mission Community Guide. The nomination lists Mills, Murtagh, journalist Dillon White and former advertising consultant Jamie Hayes as the nominees for this award.

The Ma Murray Awards recognize excellence in advertising, writing and photography as well as special publications as created by community news organizations around British Columbia and Yukon.

Three finalists have been announced in each categories and the winners will be unveiled at a BCYCNA gala at the Polygon Gallery in North Vancouver on April 20.
