Mission Record wins three national newspaper awards

Newspapers Canada awards announced for editorial and advertising excellence. Record earns one first and two third place finishes.

The Mission Record has been honoured with three awards from Newspapers Canada.

The results from the 2016 Canadian Community Newspapers Awards (editorial) and the Great Ideas Awards (advertising) were announced today (April 15).

The Record finished third  in Canada in the  Best Front Page category in its circulation class. First place went to The Connection of Collingwood, Ont. while second place was awarded to The Embassy in Ottawa, Ont..

In the advertising awards, the Record took first place overall for Best Print Advertising for its Mission Hospice Poker Run ad.

It also received a third place finish for Best Magazine in Canada for its 2015 Mission Visitor Guide.

The Record has also been nominted for a B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association award.

Karen Murtagh and Kevin Plastow are nominated for the Best Ad Campaign Award for their Rex Cox campaign called Time to Upgrade.

Results of those awards will be announced on May 7.
