The Abbotsford Eagles have donated $20,000 to Zajac Ranch for Children.
A cheque presentation was recently held at the Eagles Hall on Essendene Avenue. The donation will support Abbotsford children attending the fully accessible summer camps that Zajac runs in Mission.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles’ motto is “people helping people,” and as part of this each year, the newly elected president picks a local charity to support through fundraising.
Zajac Ranch was first picked by past worthy president Brian Hill in 2021.
“I read about all the great work they do, and was touched by the efforts to help these children,” he said.
Due to COVID, fundraising efforts were slower than normal, and when president Jim Goertzen was elected in 2022, he decided to continue with the same choice, allowing Zajac Ranch to benefit from two years of fundraising.
The Eagles recently celebrated 75 years in the community. While the non-profit exists to help people in the community, they are also a social club with more than 400 members in the local chapter.
The Eagles Hall hosts darts leagues, weekly bingo, and karaoke among other fun activities. Membership is open to anyone of legal age. Call 604-859-5405 for more information.
