Parkside Church is hosting a community gingerbread house contest and open house this Christmas.

The church (located at 33837 Prentis Ave.) plans to raise Christmas spirits while raising money for the Mission Christmas Bureau.

Local residents are invited to enter the gingerbread house contest by applying, building and delivering a unique gingerbread house for prize consideration.

Parkside hopes residents will endeavour to make gingerbread replicas of iconic buildings around town like the Post Office, Westminster Abbey, the train bridge and more (although generic houses are welcome too).

Businesses are also invited to make replicas of their storefront and building.

Parkside will receive all the houses and stage a gingerbread version of Mission for the public to view on the evenings of Dec. 16-19.

Covid safety protocols will be in place including the vaccine passport requirement.

A video tour of the gingerbread town will be posted online after the open house for those not able to attend in person.

A link to the online application and contest rules can be found at gingerbreadmission.ca along with visiting hours. Entry applications are due by Dec 6.
