It’s been a banner year for the National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada.
Wagon master Fraser Field and his wife Dorothy, from Deroche, led the NAACC 50th anniversary Coasters Cross Canada Tour from Victoria to St. John’s, Newfoundland.
The group departed Victoria on June 29. The two-month tour included more than 100 vehicles with many pulling smaller RV-style trailers behind them. Most of the vehicles were 30 years old or older.
The route included stops in every province. The theme of the trip was “taking the road less travelled, seeking new adventures.”
For their dedication to the old-car hobby, Fraser and Dorothy were presented the prestigious Canadian Hobbyists of the Year award at the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance event in Perry Sound, Ont. Their 1969 Pontiac Bonneville ambulance travelled the distance across Canada and was given a warm reception at Cobble Beach on the return to B.C.
