Mission City Farmers Market is holding its annual La Vida Local event Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. While the market runs every Saturday from May to October in the comfortably shady and cozy parking lot behind the library, there are a number of special events throughout the season.

In partnership with the Mission Food Access Network and the Mission Library, La Vida Local is a celebration of local food, food security, and community involvement.

A number of local agencies will be on hand with information about their roles in providing food security in the community. Visit the market to learn how to become involved in all three stages of food security

The La Vida Local event features two chef demos; Baba’s Raw Kitchen at 10 a.m., and Lupita Mexican Foods at 11:30 a.m. Both chefs will be using ingredients that can be bought on-site. There will also be ongoing garlic growing demonstrations by Walton Garlic.
