Festival of Trees raises $1,200 for Mission Christmas Bureau

Girl Guides win for best decorated tree in show this year

Mission's Festival of Trees raised more than $1,200 for the Christmas Bureau this year.

The total was announced Saturday night during the dramatic reading of Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol to close the festival.

Hundreds of pounds of food and gifts were also collected during the five-day festival which featured 17 trees.

Winners of contest are:

Best decorate tree in show: Girl Guides of Canada, Mission district

Best uniquely decorated tree: 521 Aurora Squadron, Mission Air Cadets

Best family traditional decorated tree: Alexander and Nan

Best business heritage decorated tree: Jodway Law Corp.

Best crafty decorated tree: Anglican Church Women, All Saints.

All the trees will be donated to the Christmas Bureau and distributed to families or seniors in the community.
