A grand opening for a newly constructed picnic shelter at Griner Park happens Friday morning.
The structures were mentioned in the 2009 Parks, Trails and Bicycle Master Plan, and the ceremony takes place at 10 a.m.
“The District of Mission is very committed to providing amenities that serve our residents. This shelter, initiated by residents near Griner Park themselves, is a welcome addition to the area.” says Mission Mayor James Atebe.
The parking lot has also recently been paved.
The request for the 20×20 foot shelter, which covers four picnic tables, was largely resident driven and was the subject of a resident petition.
