Mission and District Rod and Gun Club recently hosted its second annual Ladies Day.

This was an opportunity for women from all walks of life, many with zero firearms or archery experience, to be mentored in a safe non-competitive environment.

The day’s success depended on many club volunteers who provided attendees with education, supervision and guidance. Women are one of the fastest-growing demographics in target sport shooting and hunting – recognized as a way to feed their families free-range organic meat.

The women had the opportunity to experience Trap, Cowboy Action, Rifle, Pistol and Archery as well as speak with local, female conservation officers. A buffet lunch was served, and door prizes were awarded, everyone left with a prize.

The club has a more than 100-year history in the community and is a thriving club with popular youth programs as well. The event was co-sponsored by Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights with Vice-President of Public Relations Tracey Wilson flying out from Ottawa to attend the event.
