The Mission Community Foundation hosted its annual bursary and scholarship awards night at the Clarke Theatre on May 11.

The foundation has been handing out these awards since 1988 and the evening marked the 28th year of assisting graduating students to further their education.

This year, the organization also recognized a long-time committee and past board member who has decided to retire from the foundation. Special thanks were given to Terry Gidda for his hard work and dedication to the foundation.

The group presented 50 young adults with a total of $52,500 in bursaries and scholarships.

Recipients included: Isaiah Adachi, Emily Baker, Megan Balliet, Megan Belhumeur, Ryan Bowie, Sophie Bryant, Meghan Buckman, Jaccob Curren, Emma Fedora, Taylor Fraser, Vladislav Gavrilov, Sadrach Gounder, Thomas Hruby, Lucas Jaeckel, Sally Jang, Vienna Jeffery, Hayley Katan, Ryan Keller, Anne Kennedy, Roy Kim, Justin King, Aman Klair, Richard Kunze, Martin Kuppers, Adelai Lauglin, Monica Le, Jenessa Legaree, Mark Ma, Nicholas MacDonald, Julee MacLean, Deepak Mann, Jaiden McAdie, Jaidyn McDougall, Dylon McLay, Natasha Narula, Lise Nehring, Lilian Osborne, Mackenzie Rangers, Rosa Ravenstein, Michaela Reist, Joshua Richardson, Abigail Seeley, Palveer Shoker, Yadavan Thiruchchelvam, Rachel Valli, Nevada Vanderbyl, Emily Vetter, Myla White, Matthew Wiebe and Mary Yang.

The board of directors of the foundation thanked its benefactors and the volunteers who helped make the evening a success.
