Brothers Damion (five) and Tyson (seven) decorate their pots during the Mission Library’s new Make It and Take It program.

The Mission Library’s new Make It and Take It program allows children to create projects and then bring them home. Last week, the theme was Ready, Set, Grow and had children decorate biodegradable pots, fill them with earth and water, and then place a seed inside.

The kids can take the project home and watch their plant grow.

Julie Penner, who helps run the program, said each month the activities will  have a “green theme.”

The program takes place once a month and is free to attend. Next month the theme is caterpillars and butterflies.

Five-year-old Dani waters the soil in her newly made pot.
