Fall is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than to have a Country Fall Festival.
Fraser River Heritage Park (7494 Mary Street) is hosting the Mission Country Fall Festival on Sunday, Sept. 15 from noon to 5 p.m.
The Fall Festival Vendor Village will showcase local produce, flowers and plants, as well as Fraser Valley artisans and vendors selling everything from jam and jewelry to soap, woodworking and clothing.
In addition to the usual pie eating competition (at 2 p.m.), arts and crafts, inflatable corn maze, kids hay maze and vendor village, a new element has been added this year – a car boot sale. Vehicles are welcome to pull up and sell their used goods out of the back of their vehicle.
Organizers have announced that this year’s live music headliner is the veteran Vancouver group the Farmteam Band.
For over a decade, the fellas from Farmteam have been filling rooms and halls with great acoustic music. They are all seasoned multi-instrumentalist singers and performers with a broad musical background.
The band plays a mixture of original and cover songs that touch on many genres including country, folk, and roots.
The Farmteam stage is cluttered with acoustic guitars, mandolins, violin, banjo and bass and microphones for four great singers.
They offer something for everyone as the band can play a perfect waltz over dinner, then rock the house down after.
Organizers are also excited to have Paul Silveria and Friends taking the stage this year.
Silveria is a musician, songwriter, dance caller, and community organizer who engages audiences of all ages with interactive old-time music and dance.
He has been playing old-time banjo for more than 15 years developing his repertoire of folk songs, banjo instrumentals, jug-band tunes, mountain ballads, country blues, and vintage-styled originals!
There’s always an interactive element to Silveria’s shows and a delivery that is personable and engaging to audiences of all ages. He has played at festivals, concert series and various community events.
The concession will be open with a festive corn roast, and food trucks will be on-site serving delicious hot dogs, pizza, hamburgers, honey balls, grilled cheeses, mac n’ cheese, smoothies and so much more to tempt the pallet and satisfy any appetite.
