Skateboarding enthusiasts in Mission are invited to grab their boards and head down to the Mission Leisure Centre SkatePark for some community building and skateboarding fun.
Pressland General’s new Skateboard Club kicks off its weekly gatherings on Sunday mornings, weather permitting, from April 7 to Aug. 27, 2024.
According to organizers, Pressland Skateboard Club is more than just a casual meetup; it’s a vibrant community group designed to foster a welcoming environment for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned skateboarder or just starting out, this club offers a space to hang out, skateboard together, and learn about the etiquette of skateparks, all while having a rad time.
“We wanted to create a space where everyone feels comfortable and included,” said Jay Matte, founder of Pressland Skateboard Club and owner of Pressland General.
“Our club isn’t about formal lessons or competition; it’s about coming together as a community to share our passion for skateboarding and enjoy each other’s company.”
The club’s free weekly gatherings will take place on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m., contingent upon weather conditions.
In the event of a wet skatepark due to rain, the Skateboard Club will not meet to ensure the safety of participants.
Matte also suggests to wear protective gear such as a helmet and pads at the SkatePark, especially for beginners.
