Patient Family Centre opens at BC Cancer in Abbotsford

Centre offer workshops, teaching sessions and resource materials

Thanks to the generous support of the community, the Patient Family Centre at BC Cancer – Abbotsford has opened its doors and will aid as a robust resource for those facing the disease.

The centre is funded by BC Cancer Foundation donors, and is a focal point for education and information.

An opening celebration for the centre – located at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre on Marshall Road – was held Thursday afternoon.

Sarah Roth, president and CEO of the BC Cancer Foundation, said the centre will empower patients, their families and caregivers when it comes to making informed decisions about their health care.

“For those facing the disease, cancer can present many challenges,” she said.

“The Patient Family Centre will provide an inviting environment that will connect people impacted by cancer to the most relevant resources available in their community.”

The centre boasts a wealth of materials on a wide range of cancer-related topics.

Information workshops and group teaching sessions – open to patients and other members of the community – will also be held at the centre.
