Soapbox racing in Mission Aug. 25

New Mission soapbox derby race date coming up fast

The Mission and District Soapbox Derby is gearing up for its August event.

The race was originally slated for June, but was postponed because of wet weather.

Race day is now Aug. 25.

Registrations are open again and children ages eight to 14 with their own cars can register on race day, but must be on site by 7:30 a.m. to sign in.

The Mission and District Soapbox Derby Association also has cars for children to race. It’s first come, first serve, so arrive early.

The event takes place on Stave Lake Street with the finish line at Prentis Avenue. Cars will begin rolling down around 9 a.m.

Volunteers and new members are welcome. For more information visit
