Ukrainian culture celebrated

Members of the Canada World Youth team organized a Ukrainian night at All Saints Anglican last Wednesday night

The atmosphere of All Saints Anglican church was bright and vibrant last Wednesday with the room decorated in Ukraine’s national colours of blue and yellow.Mission residents were able to celebrate Ukrainian culture and feel the spirit of the country through the traditional melodies of folk song.Canada World Youth volunteers hosted the event, and looked the part, dressed in vyshyvankas, a traditional embroidered shirt. Throughout the evening live entertainment was provided for the guests.Songs such as Ukraine, You Lied to Me, Perogies, Two Oaks,  and Cherry Garden, were performed. A traditional choreographed dance was the nights’ show stopper. Throughout the performances guests dined on a three-course meal consisting of all the beloved motherland dishes.The event raised $100 for Youth Unlimited and $1,400 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
