VIDEO: Coven of Chilliwack witches dance to raise money for food bank

Chilliwack Trail Sisters hiking group filmed Halloween video in Yarrow

A fun-loving coven of witches from Chilliwack is raising money for the local food bank by way of a Halloween dance.

The Chilliwack Trail Sisters recently performed The Witch Dance on a trail in Yarrow and after posting the video online on Oct. 25, they are now asking folks to view it and make a donation to the Chilliwack Salvation Army Community Food Bank through their fundraising page.

Chilliwack Trail Sisters is a group of about 16 local women who’ve been hiking together for the past four years.

In the video, the witches can be seen pumping their brooms in the air and dancing amid moss-laden evergreens and orange fallen leaves.

The Witch Dance was filmed on the Vedder Mountain West Trail off Highland Drive (via Majuba Hill Road). The dance is in the style originated by Wolfshäger Hexenbrut – a.k.a. The Wolf Hunters Coven – a performance troupe in Germany.

Seven of the 16 members took part in the dance. They gathered a few times to practise and then had two dress rehearsals before filming the video.

Their fundraising goal is set at $2,000 and as of Halloween morning, more than $1,000 had been raised.

To donate, go to the Chilliwack Trail Sisters fundraising page at canadahelps.org. The fundraiser ends on Dec. 31.

The full video can be viewed on the fundraising page (scroll through the photos at the bottom) or it can be found on YouTube.
