1066 and Speed Control at FRHP

Weekly concert series brings variety of live musical acts to Mission
Speed Control performs in Mission on July 2 at Fraser River Heritage Park.
Speed Control will be performing in Mission on July 2.

A favourite of Envision Financial Twilight Concert audiences, 1066 performs June 27 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Fraser River Heritage Park.

Their slightly irreverent, light-hearted style offers music covering a broad range of the musical spectrum. Over the years they have shared the stage with such diverse luminaries as "Irish Rover" Will Millar, jazz piano phenom Michael Kaeshammer, and big band leaders Dal Richards and Mart Kenney. 1066 do not take themselves too seriously except when it comes to working hard to make sure their audiences have a blast.

Next up will be Speed Control at the park on July 2 from 7 to 8 p.m. Hailing from the Yukon, the power trio Speed Control brings a sound some compare to Nirvana and even early Police. Described as “Parka Punk” by Stuart Derdeyn of The Province, Speed Control is known for its live shows and passion for playing hard and fast. Devoted to "real rock," Speed Control takes to the stage with a power that will make you jump up and dance while knocking your breath away.

The concert series runs every Wednesday and Friday at Fraser River Heritage Park from now until Aug. 29.

Concert goers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner or treat themselves to a special pre-concert meal at the Blackberry Kitchen or The Log Cabin Café. Admission to the concerts is free, though donations are appreciated.
