The Mission Community Archives is celebrating Culture Days with some online events.

The Mission Community Archives celebrates Culture Days (Sept. 23 to Oct. 16) with a variety of online events.

On Friday, Sept. 23 at 8 a.m. the archives officially launches its redesigned website.

“This has been in the works for the past year and we are thrilled to officially launch it during Culture Days,” says archivist Val Billesberger.

Designed to be faster, easier to navigate with improved security, and more user-friendly, some of the website’s features include a blog with up-to-date archives news, the ability to book a visit to the archives, and a new online store.

On Friday, Oct. 7 at 8 a.m., Mission Community Archives released a new video series called Mission Moments.

One minute in length, each Mission Moment will highlight a story from the community’s storied past featuring images from the archives. The premiere video is about the fascinating early history of Dewdney, believed to have been first settled in 1867.

On Friday, Oct. 14 at 8 a.m., the archives releases a Mission Moment about the 1953 soap box derby, which made Canadian history.
